We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
My child is just like her mother. She needs visualization to stay on track. I created this board for her to try and cut down the constant “did you feed your dog”? “Oops mom, I forgot”. She knows that every day she needs to feed her animals, brush her teeth, and pick up after herself and so on, but she is easily distracted. (Just like her momma 🙂 ) I am constantly asking her if her chores are done. This way we can both look at the board and know what has been done and what hasn’t. So far she LOVES it.
Her chores consist of things that she is responsible for. This is to teach her responsibility. I think that children should be taught these values at a young age. It is age appropriate and for the most part, she loves she has chores.
WORK FOR HIRE
“But my friends have one!”
We have all heard that numerous of times. She comes home from school asking if she can have a cell phone. NOPE! Not in this house at the age of 8. What does an 8 year old need with a cell phone? However, she does want an iPod Touch. That, we are ok with her having. But in our household, we do not buy expensive gifts like that unless it is Christmas or a Birthday. We have explained to her if she would save her money she could buy one herself. So to teach her the value and hard work that it takes to earn money, I created the Work for Hire board. She may do these things after her daily chores are done. She can also only do them one time each, per week. All of her earned money will be placed in a jar labeled Ipod Touch with a register to keep track of her earnings. (Remember, she is a visual person)
The board and accessories are from the U Brand products that I found at Wal-Mart this past weekend. I also picked up some Duct Tape brand washi tape ( I used two layers of each color to make it bright) and a liquid chalk marker. I used some small Avery all purpose labels on top of the magnets to write her chores on. The magnets are relatively flat on top and come in all different patterns and cute colors to choose from. I just love them!
The ‘Work for Hire’ is made with the U Brand U PinIT magnets. How cute are they? They are little miniature cork boards!! LOVE them! I cut some note book paper down to size to pin the “jobs” for hire in each amount. I also love the fact that I can change the “job” quickly and easily.
